This two-hour beginning dance class will focus on a break-down of key isolations, basic shimmies and veil work. Students will learn a choreography, as well as how to improvise with the veil. Detailed written knows and a written choreography will be provided. No experience necessary.

CLASS OFFERINGS & LEVELS
BellyBasics (Beginning level): Focus is on learning isolations, Tribal Odyssey chorus steps, beg. veil, hips, zills and simple choreographies. Dancers should feel fairly comfortable with the basic isolations before moving on to a Nile Nymphs class. Girls ages 12+ are welcome.
Palace Pearls (Intermediate): Focus on beautiful arms
and hands while layering isolations, various shimmies and hip work, zills,
Tribal Odyssey Levels 3 & 4, improvisation and choreographies. At
this level, the basic isolations should feel natural and you should feel comfortable
performing several choreographies. You MUST be able to lead Tribal Odyssey
fairly well and understand staging concepts, as performing Tribal Odyssey is
a primary goal.
Special Topics (Intermediate/Advanced): Inter. to adv. level topics are explored in depth. Students need to have successfully completed the NN course. This class does not include Tribal Odyssey, and will be geared to cabaret (stage performance) and/or various forms of traditional folklore.
Advanced/Professional classes are offered on a private/semi-private basis.
CLASS CANCELLATIONS/MAKE-UPS/REQUIREMENTS
CLASS CANCELLATIONS: It is important to pre-register one week prior to session start dates, as classes may be cancelled if enrollment is low. If classes are cancelled, your un-cashed check will be returned to you.
CLASS MAKE-UP POLICY: Students may make-up 2 missed classes per full-time paid session by attending their level (or lower) class at another time or location during the current session. If there are no other classes currently running, then there are no opportunities to make up missed classes. The absent student must either phone (540) 888-4344 or send an e-mail to within 48 hrs. Missed class on the last session date may be made up during the following session provided student is enrolled full-time. Workshops and private lessons are not available for make-ups.
NO CASH REFUNDS FOR MISSED CLASSES
A NOTE ABOUT CLASS MAKE-UPS AND CHOREOGRAPHIES: If you are attending a class that is at a lower level than what you normally take, please follow the instructor and resist the urge to improvise as it is distracting to other students. When attending a class make-up you may be joining students that have been working on choreography for some time. You are asked to just jump in and do the best you can.
MISSED ROUTINES: If you wish to learn a routine that I have taught previously or cover material that you missed in classes, you may take a private lesson at the Cross Junction studio. Some choreographies will require more than one lesson and will need to be prepaid in advance. Choreographies are included in the price of a 6 week session and extra copies are not handed out during class make-ups.
CLASS REQUIREMENTS: No special clothing is required, although dance/ballet shoes are recommended. Leggings, midriff tops, flowing broomstick skirts, ballet wear, sweats, aerobic wear are suitable. A hip scarf is recommended for women’s classes. Women’s/Teens: Finger Cymbals ($12-$16) and a veil ($12-$25) are required for 2nd six weeks class.
